The safety and comfort of our community is our top priority. Our events are a safe space for connection, creativity, and collaboration—and harassment of any kind will not be tolerated.
This includes but is not limited to: 1. Sexual harassment: unwanted touching, groping, lewd comments, or asking a model/author to reenact explicit scenes. 2. Ignoring consent: If an author, model, or attendee says “no” (to photos, touching, or conversation), respect it. 3. Disrespecting personal space: hovering, following, or cornering someone. 4. Verbal harassment: offensive jokes, slurs, intimidation, or unwanted sexual advances. 5. Recording/photographing anyone without their permission. Touching or distracting service animals. 6. Any stalking, aggressive behavior, or attempts to contact someone after being asked not to. 7. Pushing, shoving, or aggressive behavior while waiting in line. Steps we’ve taken in 2025 and will continue in 2026: 1. Color-coded bracelets at registration to signal comfort levels with physical touch (examples: hugs, handshakes, or no contact). 2. Plain-clothes security staff walking throughout the event to ensure a safe environment. 3. Immediate enforcement of Zero Tolerance policies—violators will be removed from the event.
If you see a situation that needs intervention or if you experience an uncomfortable or harassing situation, report it immediately to a volunteer or to event staff. Volunteers and staff will have color-coded branded apparel to make themselves more visible.

Consent, boundaries, and personal comfort will always be upheld and protected at our events. Everyone has the right to participate without fear of harassment, intimidation, or discrimination. Respect is non-negotiable—toward individuals, service animals, personal space, and boundaries. Accountability is immediate. Violations will result in removal from the event. Indy Author Event will always be a space where every attendee, guest, author, model, volunteer, and staff member feels valued, supported, and safe.
